about

Ironically, I don't remember exactly where "How it Came to Be" came from. I had the verse guitar riff for awhile, and I'd deliberately tried to make an interesting riff that I could still sing along to. The chorus, I think, just flowed naturally from the verse riff.

Although I love the wall of sound and the variety of guitars that show up on the song, I'm most proud of the bass line, which I carefully constructed piece-by-piece to fiddle with root notes and offset the melody. I haven't had time to record like that since then and my bass lines have subsequently suffered. But it took a long time to lay out that bass line, and I take pride in it.
