about

I wrote "Five Highway Junction" in 2005-2006, when I was living in Hope, BC. I was pretty lonely and learning a lot of history stuff. The story was kind-of a mesh from what I was reading in books and on dating websites. Like "(If She Loves Somebody Else) Don't Tell Me Who," I have a discussion with a terrible mentor in the song, this time Matthew Bailie Begbie, who gives me useless advice. Have I mentioned that I don't tend to get along with mentors?

The guitar melody that closes the song came pretty naturally from the chord progression. It's a good concert-closer and I enjoy layering the different harmonies on the guitar.
